Glenn M. Ouart

KEWANEE – Glenn M. Ouart, 94, of Kewanee, died at 3:30 p.m., Sunday, November 17, 2019 at the home of his grandson, Brian.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 23 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Linnea Gustafson will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery where military rites will be accorded by the Kewanee Veterans Council. Memorials may be directed to the Henry County Humane Society.

He was born May 24, 1925 in Kewanee, the son of William John and Vivian (McNaught) Ouart. He married Darlene Scott on April 28, 1946 in Pontiac, IL and she preceded him in death on October 24, 1994. Survivors include three step-grandchildren; Kevin (Lorie) Elgin, Cindy Paxton and Brian (Lorie) Elgin, all of Kewanee, a sister, Lois Brownlee of Amboy, eight great grandchildren, fifteen great-great grandchildren and his special caregiver, Lisa “Barb” Hull, who called him Grandpa. He was also preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Lowell and Dale, son-in-law, Kenneth Elgin and his daughter, Connie Elgin who passed away the same day Glenn did 4 years ago.

Glenn served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII serving in the Pacific Theatre. He worked as an electrician at Kewanee Boiler Manufacturing for 42 years and he started farming in 1972 until his retirement in 1999. He had also worked at the Walworth Co. In his earlier years he enjoyed farming, camping at his daughters’ cabin, fishing and playing cards with his family. His companion was his white poodle named Winnie the Pooh who was often seen walking alongside him.
