Glenna L. Boker

KEWANEE - Glenna L Boker, 86, of Kewanee, died at 7:13 p.m., Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at her home.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 1, at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Pastor Don Reul will officiate.  Visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m., Sunday, September 30 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Pleasant View Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to a charity of the donor’s choice.

She was born September 23, 1932 in Versailles, IL, the daughter of William F and Lottie L (Suratt) Smith. She was first married to Lawrence Self and then to Everett L Boker. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, a son, Lawrence, a brother, James and three sisters, Barbara Clayes, Lula Swan and Juanita Suratt.  She is survived by a daughter, Cheryl Self of Kewanee, two sons, Jack Self of Toulon and William (Paula) Self of Daytona Beach, FL, eleven grandchildren, Bill Self, Rebecka Self, April Self, Lawrence “Larry” Self, Dalton Brewster, Krissy Quinn, David Self, Chris Crain, Tonya Self, Jessica Lindsey and Trisha VerVynck, several great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, a brother Charles “Dick” Smith of Kewanee, several nieces and nephews and a special friend, Imogene Bates.

Glenna had been a cook at Waunee Farms for 33 years. She recently had been baptized at the First Baptist Church in Galva.  She loved cooking and she enjoyed doing woodworking and making cut-outs, doing yard work and fishing. She was especially proud of her family and enjoyed having them around. Her home was welcome to anyone and she never knew a stranger. She will be deeply missed by those lives she touched.
