James Throgmorton Obituary

James Henry Throgmorton was born on November 17, 1933 son to Leona and James Walter Throgmorton and brother to Evaliena Heir in the town of Kewanee, IL.  Jim was married to Grace Millman.  Jim graduated from Kewanee High School, worked as a welder for the Hyster Company, later serving for his country in the Navy.  Jim worked for Union Carbide and then went back into the service with the Air Force. Jim also was an elevator mechanic in the International Union of Elevator Constructors until retirement.

Jim passed away at the age of 83 in Springfield, MO on November 16, 2016. His family has brought him back to Illinois to be placed next to where his parents rest. He is preceded by his parents and survived by his only son, Dirk Throgmorton of Shingle Springs, CA and his sister, Evaliena Heir of Galva, IL.

“He was an amazing Dad, father-in-law, Grandfather, exceptionally creative and talented writer, served in the Navy and Air Force, worked at AeroJet, was a hard worker, very creative welder, one tough cookie....but a heart of gold deep down inside. Such a strong man, a builder and a fixer......We miss him so much! We are treasuring your memories close in heart and you are in our thoughts filled with great Love for you and all we have to be thankful for because of you."

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 5 at Evergreen Memorial Gardens where military rites will be accorded by the Kewanee Veterans Council. Rev. Martin Gutzmer will officiate. Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee is in charge of arrangements.
