James “Jake” Jacobs, 68, died at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, April 19, 2018 in Kewanee.
Jake was born in Moline, IL, the son of Elmer and Eva Jacobs. He was a Fruitland kid that loved to play baseball. He graduated from MHS class of 1967. He served as a Marine during the Vietnam era.
He finished college and became a Veterans Service Officer in Kewanee. This job was his passion. He helped countless Veterans and their wives to navigate the benefits system. This is also where he met his wife, Jan. She and their fur babies survive him.
Also surviving him are his sisters Janice Fulton, Eva (Cecil) Pennington, Linda Morris, Julie (Phil) Clark, & Teresa (Jerry) Hockaday. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Rollie, and Jan's parents.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 5th at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Pastor Bob Curry will officiate. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m., until the time of the service at the funeral home. Following the service military rites will be accorded by the Kewanee Veterans Council.
