KEWANEE – Jeffery L. “Jeff” Autery, 58, of Kewanee, died at 10:50 a.m., Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Cremation has been accorded and a Celebration of his Life will be held from 4:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, December 8 at the Kewanee Elks Lodge. Private inurnment will be held at a later date at Pleasant View Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Jeffery Autery Memorial Fund. Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee is in charge of arrangements.

He was born December 31, 1958 in Kewanee, the son of Roy and Shirley (Hultquist) Autery. He married Donna L. Hancock on June 3, 1983 in Kewanee. She survives of Kewanee as does his mother of Warrenville, SC. He was a true hero to his two sons; Joshua (Kirsten) Autery of Galva and Denton Autery of Kewanee. Also surviving are two sisters, Debby (Mark) Simaytis of Kewanee and Rochelle (Scott) Bergren of Aiken, SC, a brother, Steve (Cheryl) Autery of Cambridge, IL and his grandson, Kelly. He was preceded in death by his father.

Jeff graduated from Wethersfield High School in 1977 and with honors from Sauk Valley Community College with a radiologic technologist degree. He had worked as welder at BOMAG in Kewanee and as a radiology technologist at Hammond-Henry Hospital and its clinic in Colona. He was a member of Hill Church in Kewanee and had been a Cub Scout leader and an AWANA leader at the First Baptist Church. He was also a member of the NRA and Vice President of the Union. Jeff enjoyed hot rods, Ford cars and motorcycles and especially his “mistress,” his Ford Torino.
