NEPONSET – Jerry D. Stabler, 67, of Neponset, died at 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 25, 2019 at his home.
Cremation will be accorded and a memorial visitation will be held from 9:00-10:30 a.m., Sunday, March 31 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Inurnment for immediate family and friends will follow at West Neponset Cemetery where military rites will be accorded by the Neponset American Legion. Memorials may be directed to the Jerry Stabler Memorial Fund.
He was born August 2, 1951 in Kewanee, the son of Charles W. and Fern L. (Hand) Stabler. He married Deborah L. “Debbie” Price on September 15, 1973 at the Neponset United Methodist Church and she preceded him in death on June 6, 2018. Survivors include his children, Jenny Stabler of Geneseo, Matt (Heather) Stabler of Buda and Lindsay Stabler of Neponset, a sister, Sherry (Roger) Cannon of Marengo, IL and five grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Dawson, Colin, Jaxson and Samantha. He is also preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Jack and his identical twin, Gary.
Jerry graduated from Neponset High School. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1973-75 obtaining the rank of Sargent and serving with the Military Police. He had farmed, worked at Kewanee Door Company and for Schneider’s in Princeton until his retirement. He was a member of the Neponset American Legion and its honor guard and most recently the Kewanee Veterans Council. He enjoyed farming and helping local farmers and especially enjoyed visiting with friends and spending time with family.
