WESTMINSTER, CO – Jim Matthew Cavanagh Sr., 78, of Westminster, CO, formerly of Galva, died on Saturday, December 8, 2018 in Westminster, CO.
Cremation has been accorded and a Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 22 at St. John Catholic Church in Galva. Celebrant will be Fr. John Burns. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the church. Inurnment will be held at St. John Catholic Cemetery. Rux Funeral home in Galva is in charge of arrangements.
He was born on March 31, 1940 in Peoria, the son of Francis J. and Mary Frances (Burns) Cavanagh. He had been married to Carol Simpson. Survivors include his three sons; Jim (Cheri) Cavanagh of Galva, Scott (Joanne) Cavanagh of Connecticut and Mike (Tracy) Cavanagh of Georgia, nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Jim had worked for the railroad, Hyster Company, had sold cars and satellite dishes and in between farmed and raised his three boys. He was a grain and livestock farmer in the Galva area for many years. He was a member of St. John Catholic Church and had volunteered with the Galva Ambulance Service and the local civil defense.
