Joan R. Herrick

KEWANEE - Joan R. Herrick, 82, of Kewanee, went to be with the Lord at 2:59 p.m., Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at Unity Point Health-Trinity in Rock Island while surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 11 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Rev. Jon Vincent will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Pleasant View Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Kewanee Historical Society or to the First Baptist Church.

Joan was born July 30, 1935 in Kewanee, daughter of Robert and Marcella (Routh) Richards. She married T. Robert Herrick on May 1, 1954 and he preceded her in death on February 14, 2000. Also preceding her in death were her parents and grandson, Craig Herrick. Surviving are her three sons, Steven, Paul (Roxanne) and David, her daughter, Beth (Mark) McCormick, grandchildren, James and Matthew Herrick, Alan (Brittney) McCormick and Michelle (Kellen) Fryear, great grandchildren, Hailey and Cameron McCormick and Charlotte Herrick and two brothers, Robert (Delores) Richards and Dan Richards.

Joan graduated from Wethersfield High School in 1953. She had worked at Peoples National Bank, Wethersfield School cafeteria and the June Melodee Record Shop. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Wawtabt Class. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and Just Us Girls (J.U.G.). She had been a Reach to Recovery volunteer for the American Cancer Society. She loved her family very much and enjoyed spending time with them.
