GALVA - Joan C. Weeks, 90, of Galva, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Sunday, April 21, 2019 at Betty’s Garden in Kewanee.
Joan was born February 4, 1929 in Kewanee, the daughter of Edith and Sam Clouston. She graduated from Kewanee High School in 1946. Joan married Harold Weeks on May 13, 1950 and he preceded her in death on November 14, 1990. Surviving are one daughter, Marchele (Michael) Mahnesmith; one son, David Weeks (Suzanne Willis, fiancé); four grandchildren, Becca and Morgan Mahnesmith, Paul (Holly) Weeks, and Jesse Weeks-Goodin; and one great-grandchild, Bradley Weeks. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Clarice Johnson; niece, Lois Armstrong; and grandson, John Weeks-Goodin.
Joan loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, bowling, sewing, gardening, and going to weekly dinners at Mary’s with her best friends Jim and Janice Anderson.
The family would like to thank all of her special care givers. We sincerely appreciated all the care and love she received during her illness.
Joan’s wit and humor will be dearly missed, especially her famous response when asked how she was doing, “fat, sassy and nasty”.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 26 at Rux Funeral Home in Galva. Fr. Jerry Rafalko will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Galva Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Betty’s Garden Memory Care of Kewanee or to the Galva Legion.
