JoAnn M. Jenkins

TOULON - JoAnn M. Jenkins, 85, a resident at Kewanee Care Nursing Home, formerly of Toulon, died at 5:08 p.m., Saturday, January 13, 2018 in the emergency room at OSF Saint Luke Medical Center in Kewanee.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 18 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Deacon Martin VanMeltebeck will officiate.  Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Toulon Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Research Hospital in Memphis, TN.

She was born in Kewanee on June 10, 1932 the daughter of Gerald and Mary (DeKazel) Weeks. She married Jack Jenkins on October 7, 1949 in Kewanee and he preceded her in death on October 25, 1995. She was also preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by two sons, Randy (Sandy) Jenkins and Rick Jenkins, both of Kewanee and a daughter, Marlene (Ivan) Nelson of Toulon, three grandchildren, Monica (Darrin Nelson), Matthew and Zachary (and fiancé Carly), two great grandchildren, Morgan and Kyle and four great-great grandchildren with one on the way, three step-grandchildren, Jeff Nelson, Lee Ann Hufnagel and Jennifer (Scott) Eberle, six step-great grandchildren and an aunt, Elsie Kirley.

JoAnn had attended Kewanee Schools and was last employed at Toulon Health Care Center. She was a past president and member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Kewanee. She enjoyed doing yardwork, planting flowers and the occasional trip to the casino with Rick. She was a die-hard Cub fan and enjoyed watching the Cubs. The family wishes to thank the nursing staff at Kewanee Care for their care and the staff at OSF Saint Luke Emergency Room for their efforts. And a heartfelt thank you to the caregivers that were special to her, you know who you are!
