PEORIA – John Neal Bodine, 81, of Peoria, formerly of East Moline, died at 10:22 p.m., Thursday, May 17, 2018 at UnityPoint Health-Methodist in Peoria.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 31 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Pastor Justyn Smith of the Crossroads Baptist Church in Peoria will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 30 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in rural Kewanee where military rites will be accorded by the Kewanee Veterans Council. Memorials may be directed to the John Bodine Memorial Fund.
He was born May 15, 1937 in Moran, KS, the son of John and Nola Elizabeth (Moss) Bodine. He married Jaquetta “Jackie” Rowland on August 7, 1987 in Las Vegas, NV. Survivors include his wife of 30 happy years, his five children from a previous marriage, John (Patricia) Bodine, Tom (Brenda) Bodine, Diana (Dallas) Lewis, Rick (Jamie) Bodine and Tim Bodine and his fiancé, Georgia and their step-daughter, Sarah, a brother, Brent Bodine, a sister, Charlene Godsill. several grandchildren and great grandchildren and a special nephew, Jerzee who spent a lot of time with John and thought of him as a father figure. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Terry and Steve, a son, Kevin and his in-laws, Fred and Irene Rowland.
John graduated from Wyoming High School. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He had worked in sales for Wonder Bread and Hostess, Schwan’s, and for Sara Lee Bakery in Moline. John enjoyed life and especially being with his family and friends. He also enjoyed horseracing, collecting eagles and leopards, going on cruises and traveling to Hawaii, Colorado, Florida and Las Vegas.
