KEWANEE – John W. Hankins, 72, of Kewanee, died at 5:30 p.m., Sunday, June 3, 2018 at the Toulon Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 8 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Cremation will be accorded following the services and private inurnment will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the Toulon Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.
He was born September 30, 1945 in Kewanee, the son of Charles W. and Ruth (Philhouer) Hankins. He married Marcella L. Nolan on May 10, 1969 in Kewanee. Survivors include his wife of Kewanee, a daughter, Christine (Greg) Finney of Kewanee, a son, James (Kelli) Hankins of Kewanee, a granddaughter, Gracelyn Finney, four step-grandchildren; Ashley Lisenbee, John (Liz) Derr, Matthew Derr (Carly Miller) and Schae Finney, four step-great grandchildren with two on the way; Eliza Derr, Alex Rich, David Rich and Ashley Summerford and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.
John worked for the Allied Moving Company, for Pearson’s in Galva and with Abilities Plus at the rest stop on Interstate 74 near Woodhull. He had enjoyed mowing yards and working the grilling pits for the annual Kewanee Hog Days Festival.
