KEWANEE – Kaye L. Nelson, 58, of Kewanee, died at 9:10 a.m., Thursday, July 4, 2019 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Cremation will be accorded and a Celebration of her Life will begin at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, July 7 at the home of her sister, Shelly Verbout, 232 W. Mill St. Rd, Sheffield, IL 61361. Memorials may be directed to the family. Rux Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
She was born April 3, 1961 in Kewanee, the daughter of Thomas and Barbara (Tindle) Hewitt. She married Ty L. Nelson on July 2, 1983 in Wyoming. Survivors include her husband of Kewanee, a son, Brandon (Mandi) Hewitt of Kewanee, a daughter, Barbie (Tim) Cravens of Toulon and many “adopted” kids in the area, three brothers; Gary (Gena) Dye of Walnut, Dale (Amy) Hewitt of Delaware, OH and Roe Hewitt of Aurora, CO, three sisters; Mary Johnson of Delaware, OH, Shelly Verbout of Sheffield and Janie Roberson of West Plains, MO and four grandchildren; Hailey, Thomas and Kaytee Hewitt and Tiler Cravens. She was preceded in death by her parents.
She graduated from Bradford High School in 1979. She was homemaker and of the Baptist faith and was an AWANA group leader at the First Baptist Church in Bradford. She delivered meals for the Bradford Senior Citizens Center in LaFayette and enjoyed playing Bingo at the Galva Senior Citizens Center, fishing, crocheting and especially spending time with her grandchildren.
