L. Brent Huffman

KEWANEE - L. Brent Huffman, 88, of Kewanee, died Saturday, May 27, 2017 at his home with family.

He was born August 21, 1928 in Hickory, NC, the son of Robert Earl and Cora Lee (Hollar) Huffman. He married Joan Marie Jachowicz on February 13, 1954 in Kewanee. She survives of Kewanee, as does a daughter, Lynn (Gerald) Skizas of Mokena, IL and a son, Paul (Lynn) Huffman, of Weatherford, TX, five grandchildren, Jaime, Amianne, Michael Ann, Danielle and Jacob, a great granddaughter, Emery and a brother, Glenn (JoAnn) Huffman of Bella Vista, AR. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Harold and a sister, Grace Anderson.

Brent was an Air Force Veteran having served during the Korean Conflict. He had worked as an estimator for the Mechanical Insulation Company.  He was a founding member of the Windmont Park Lighting Committee. He enjoyed golfing and was in several golf leagues over the years. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal Fan and enjoyed watch and antique pocket watch collecting and was very fond of his little dogs, especially Chaz.

Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Monday, June 5th at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 6th at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery where military rites will be accorded by the Kewanee Veteran’s Council. Memorials may be directed to the Windmont Park Lighting Fund, St. Jude’s Midwest Affiliate or to the Kewanee Senior Citizens Center.
