KEWANEE - Linda Rose Gorden, 72, of Kewanee, died at 9:03 a.m., Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 10 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. The Rev. Dr. William R. Toliver will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Friday, August 9 at the funeral home. Inurnment will be held at Pleasant View Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Linda Gorden Memorial Fund.
She was born October 9, 1946 in Kewanee, the daughter of Robert and Darlene (DeValkenaere) Anderson. She married Donald R. Gorden Sr. on March 3, 1972 in Kewanee. Survivors include her children; Tamara “Tammy” (Tony) Stoner of Kewanee, Marcia (Bill Bradley) Hartman of Las Vegas, NV, Robin (Larry Derr) Williams, Michelle Phelps, Donald (Michelle) Gorden Jr., Dawn (Chris) Pruitt and Deanna Young, all of Kewanee and Brandon (Tiffany) Gorden of Peoria, sixty-five grandchildren and great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren and her close friends, Frances Strand and Linda Buesing. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Nancy Mock, a son, Dustin, a grandson, Christian and a great-great grandchild, Landyn.
Linda had worked in the restaurant business starting at Davidson’s in Kewanee. She later owned several restaurants in the area, including the Coffee Bar in Cambridge and the Kewanee Café. She also had ran the kitchen at the Flemish American Club. She had been a member of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, a former member of the Rebekah Lodge and was a member of the McDonald’s coffee group. She was an avid Denver Broncos fan and enjoyed cooking, the Rocky Mountains, collecting geese and she especially enjoyed her puppies.
