Margaret Jane Clucas

Margaret Jane Lewin Clucas passed away October 6th, 2019 at the Hillcrest Home in Geneseo, IL.  Born June 29th, 1932 Jane was the youngest of 11 children born to John and Mabel Lewin. She was born and raised in Galva, IL and graduated from Galva High School in 1950.

Jane was married to Robert Clucas and they had three children, Matthew, John and Bob. She and Robert later divorced and Jane raised her three boys. All three have been successful in life and raised families of their own. Jane had nine grandchildren and twelve nieces and nephews that mourn her passing.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mabel Lewin, and siblings; Harold Lewin, Leon Lewin, Doris Lewin Tarleton, Mary Lewin Binge, Lois Lewin Taylor, Isabel Lewin Milliken, Richard Lewin and two siblings, Verna and Donald Lewin who died in childhood.  Jane's son John died May 8th, 2011. One sister, Kathryn Lewin Hurd of Oakland, FL survives.

Jane lived most of her adult life in Kewanee and worked for many years for People's National Bank. She was known for her sense of humor and her zest for life. She had a remarkable memory of details from her years growing up with ten brothers and sisters in Galva and could entertain the family with her stories. As her sister Kay would say, “What she doesn't remember, she makes up!”

In accordance with Jane's wishes for her services, her body was cremated. Her ashes will be placed at her son John's grave in Toulon, IL. The Lewin side of her family will conduct services on Saturday, October 26th at 2:00 PM at Rux Funeral Home in Galva. Jane had wanted the family to visit her parent's grave site in the Galva Cemetery and then proceed to the Toulon cemetery for a brief service at her son John's grave where her ashes will be placed. Family and friends are invited to attend the services.
