GALVA - Margaret Lucille Lewin, 100, of Galva, died at 10:53 a.m. Thursday, April 5, 2018 at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 11 at the First United Methodist Church in Galva. Rev. Trisha Chapman will officiate. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church. Burial will be in the Galva Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the First United Methodist Church in Galva. Rux Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
She was born April 18, 1917 in Monmouth, IL, the daughter of Louis and Augusta Josephine (Peterson) Peterson. She married Leon E. Lewin on June 2, 1943 in Monmouth and he preceded her in death on January 1, 1986. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Marjorie in infancy, a brother, John Robert “Bob” Peterson and a great granddaughter, Emmy VandeVoorde. She is survived by three sons, Dennis (Jill) Lewin of Thomasville, GA and John (Roselie) Lewin and Robert “Bob” Lewin, both of Galva, six grandchildren, Nanett (Daryll) Webb, Jodie (Kenneth) Musselman, Melissa (Matt) Bodman, Sonyalee VandeVoorde, Katie (Mark) Loveday and Polly Bass, fourteen great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.
Lucille graduated from Monmouth High School in 1935. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Galva where she had also been the church secretary for a number of years. She had also worked for Brown-Lynch-Scott Department Store in Monmouth. She enjoyed crocheting and was a Die-Hard Cub fan and enjoyed the thrill of them finally winning the World Series in her life-time!
