Marie Lucille Purdy

Kewanee – Marie Lucille Purdy, 83, of Kewanee, died at 7:20 p.m., Monday, July 30, 2018 at the Kewanee Care Home.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, August 3 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Thursday, August 2 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in rural Kewanee. Memorials may be directed to the funeral home.

She was born November 4, 1934 in Kewanee, the daughter of Ellsworth and Faye (Snell) Frank. Survivors include her son, Michael S. (Jennifer) Purdy Sr. of Castleton, her daughter, Michelle Purdy of Kewanee, a sister, Carole Miller of Kewanee and her two grandchildren, Michael S. Purdy Jr. and Jessica J. Purdy, both of Castleton. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, William “Bill” Frank, sister, Patricia Wilson and a nephew, Keith Wilson.

Marie graduated from Kewanee High School in 1954 and attended Black Hawk East from 1983-84. She had worked at Harper Wyman in Princeton for 14 years and had delivered newspapers for the Star Courier for many years. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church which is now Encounter Church and thoroughly enjoyed their church activities. She was an avid fan of Chicago Bears football and Chicago Cubs baseball and she especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and truly loved being with her grandchildren.
