Mary C. Osborne

MORTON – Mary C. Osborne, 76, of Morton, formerly of Kewanee, passed peacefully in her sleep, Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at her home.

Cremation has been accorded and a memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 11 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Deacon Martin VanMeltebeck will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home with recitation of the rosary at 12:30 p.m. Inurnment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Morton or to the Red Cross Hurricane Relief Fund.

Mary was born May 21, 1941 in Kewanee, the daughter of Forrest and Clara (Fortman) Boswell. She married William Duane Osborne on August 7, 1965 in Kewanee and he preceded her in death on November 25, 2013. Survivors include a son, Mike (Rachel) Osborne of Morton, a brother, David (Sara) Boswell of Kewanee, a sister, Jane Boswell of Peoria, two grandchildren, Aaron Clyde Osborne and Grace Catherine Osborne, three nephews, Jeffrey (Cara) of Southlake, TX, Thomas (Lannie) of Lombard, IL and Mark (Kathryn) Boswell of Long Grove, IL and a cousin-in-law, Sandy Murphy of Kewanee. She was also preceded in death by her parents and two cousins, Patrick Murphy and Peggy Lehr.

Mary graduated from Kewanee High School in 1959 and from Bradley University in Peoria.  She taught business, economics, and typing classes at Spalding and Peoria Notre Dame High School, where she was a photographer and yearbook advisor most years.  She enjoyed teaching CCD classes to grade school children for several years at Holy Family Catholic Church.

Mary was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.  She had a passion for gardening and outdoors, science, photography, the holidays, and trips to Northern Wisconsin.  Family and friends were especially important to her.  She loved being nana to her grandchildren.
