KEWANEE - Mary E. Ward, 97, a resident of the Hillcrest Home in rural Geneseo, formerly of Kewanee, died at 9:39 a.m., Friday, May 11, 2018 at the home.
Cremation has been accorded and memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, June 16 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Rev. Terry Lancaster will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Inurnment will be held at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in rural Kewanee at a later date. Memorials may be directed to Abilities Plus.
She was born on October 3, 1920 in Elmore, IL, the daughter of Bert and Hazel (Catton) Chamberlain. She married Carl E. Ward on June 29, 1942 in Kahoka, MO and he preceded her in death on October 5, 1968. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a son, Dennis and siblings, Bobby, Wayne, Wilna, Dorothy and Shirley. She is survived by a daughter, Marilyn Farmer of Annawan, a son, Phillip (Jane) Ward of Valley, NE, eight grandchildren, Tony (Stacie) Ward, Theresa (Steve) Wilson, Dana Schmidt, Matt Ward, Jeffrey (Michell) Farmer, Sheri (Troy) Minnaert, Andrea (Frank) Amato and Amy (John) Lehnhoff, seventeen great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, a brother Dick Chamberlain of Galesburg, three sisters, Mildred “Sue” Allen of West Jersey, IL, Nancy Tracy of Wyoming, Il and Ruth Ann Mayes of De Funiak Springs, FL and several nieces and nephews.
Mary had worked as a paper cutter for International Paper in Peoria.
