KEWANEE – Mary June Kuster, 80, of Kewanee, died at 6:37 p.m., Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at the Hillcrest Home in Geneseo.
Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Friday, October 5 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 6 at the Church of Peace in Kewanee. Rev. Dan Craig will officiate. Burial will be in the Garden of Peace Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Church of Peace.
She was born June 11, 1938 in Ocala, FL, the daughter of Leon and Elizabeth Cheek. She married Kenneth L. Kuster of Kewanee on June 26, 1955 in Dade City, FL. He survives alongside two sons, John “Blake” Kuster of Muscatine, IA and Michael Kuster and wife Kim of Lombard, IL, two daughters, Robin Sumrall and husband Lonnie of Tampa, FL and Leann Pregont and husband Dan of Watersmeet, MI, her brother, Landon Cheek of Homosassa, FL, ten grandchildren; Nicholas Eilers and wife Adena, Rachel Barkules, Jaclyn Hill, Bill Clark and wife Brittany, Jessica Clark, Christine Borrillo and husband Shane, Karin Kuster, Whitney Kuster, Brooke Kuster and fiancé Alex Diaz, and Mikey Kuster, and five great grandchildren; Taliya, Jada, Sofia, Caleb and Kayleen. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Joyce Luffman.
Prior to retirement, Mary June worked as a real estate broker and managed the Midland South Apartments. She was an active member of the Church of Peace and served as president of the church board during their recent remodeling project. She belonged to two bridge clubs, enjoyed cooking, and believed “if you can read, you can cook.” An active family woman, she was lovingly referred to as “Grandma June.” She delighted in preparing holiday dinners for her family and attending her grandchildren’s activities.
