KEWANEE – Michael John “Mike” Camey, 59, of Kewanee, died at 7:30 a.m., Sunday, April 22, 2018 at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 28 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Pastor Bob Curry will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. The family asks that you wear your favorite Chicago sports team attire to the services. Cremation will be accorded following services. Memorials may be directed to the Ron Santo Foundation to help find a cure for diabetes.
He was born July 23, 1958 in Kewanee, the son of Michael D. and Vietta (Ostergren) Camey. He married Debra L. Carlson on August 13, 1977. Survivors include his wife of Kewanee, three daughters, Nicole Camey of Shiloh, IL, Michelle (Seth) Peed and Rebecca (Brad) Ensley both of Kewanee, two brothers, Tim (Victoria) Camey of Tucson, AZ and Joshua Camey of Kewanee, four sisters, Joni (Jim) Russell of Hot Springs, SD, Tina Williams of Apache Junction, AZ, Julie Martin of Bethalto, IL and Angela (Kirby) Tucker of Trenton, IL, four grandchildren, Madison Peed, Logan Peed, Mykel Ensley and Karleigh Ensley and thirteen nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mike graduated from Kewanee High School in 1976. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force obtaining the rank of Airman 1st Class. He was a self-employed contractor, owning and operating Camey Construction. He was proud of his Irish heritage and had coached softball and enjoyed going to the riverboat and especially spending time with his grandchildren. He was an avid Cubs, Bears, Bulls, Blackhawks and Fighting Illini fan.
