Michael L. "Mike" Larson

NORMAL – Michael L. “Mike” Larson, 61, of Normal, formerly of Kewanee, died at 2:56 a.m., Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at his home.

Cremation will be accorded and a memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 4 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Deacon Martin VanMeltebeck will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Michael Larson Memorial Fund.

He was born May 20, 1957 in Freeport, IL, the son of Harold and Donna (Lyon) Larson. He married Donna J. Alsman. Survivors include his wife of Normal, two children, Danny Larson and Andrea (Robert) Brown, a step-daughter, Sheila Vaughn, a grandson, Bishop Brown, three step-grandchildren; Emma and Donovan Fluty and Skyler Vaughn, two sisters, Penney Grabbe of Kewanee and Pam (R.J.) Hampton of Daytona Beach, FL, two brothers, Dave (Laura) Larson of Marquette Heights, IL and Terry (Sony) Larson of El Paso, IL, two brothers-in-law, Paul Hood of Kewanee and Bob Alsman of Austin, TX, a sister-in-law, Mary Dibble of Bloomington, IL and several nieces and nephews; Jeff and Lisa Hampton, Kevin (Brandy) Hampton, Eric, Tom, Harold, Jerimiah, Hannah and Joshua Larson and Bryan, Bradley and Lesa Hampton. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Patty Hood, a brother, Dennis Larson, a brother-in-law, Bob Grabbe and a niece, Liz Larson.

Mike graduated from Kewanee High School in 1975. He most recently had worked at Casey’s and had also worked in the culinary department at State Farm Insurance in Bloomington. In his earlier years he worked at Monical’s Pizza. Mike loved sports and was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan. He also loved his family and playing Bingo with his wife and he especially enjoyed family get-togethers.
