GALVA - Mildred E. Costello, 100, a resident at Courtyard Estates in Galva, died at 2:45 a.m. Thursday April 5, 2018 at Good Samaritan Society, Geneseo Village.
Per her wishes, cremation will be accorded and a private graveside ceremony will be held at a later date at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery in Palatine, IL. Rux Funeral Home in Galva is in charge of arrangements.
She was born February 21, 1918 in Galva, IL, the daughter of Henry and Lena (Johnson) Rosander. She married Bernard A. Costello on October 12, 1940 in Chicago and he preceded her in death on May 27, 2000. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Russell Rosander and a daughter, Patricia Jensen. She is survived by a son, Michael Costello of Barrington, IL, a daughter, Barbara Demas of Galva, three grandchildren, Pam Hoch, Heather Jensen (and her husband Michael Steiner) and Kari (Rob) Weston and six great grandchildren, Dalton, Josie, Cody, Payton, Ethan and Jonathan.
Mildred graduated from Galva High School in 1936. She had been a member of St. John Catholic Church. She enjoyed her life and activities at Courtyard Estates. She was proud and overjoyed to celebrate her 100th Birthday at Courtyard Estates with family and friends. She had also enjoyed being part of the Valentine’s Day royalty with Butch Thompson. She was also a Die-Hard Cub Fan and enjoyed the fact that she got to see them win the World Series in her lifetime!
