Mildred M. Golden

KEWANEE - Mildred M. Golden, 70, formerly of Bradford and Kewanee, died at 11:12 a.m., Friday, September 1, 2017 at Genesis Medical Center-Silvis in Silvis, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 7 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Rev. Dan Craig will officiate. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 6 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Mildred Golden Memorial Fund.

She was born April 29, 1947 in Kewanee, the daughter of Henry and Elaine (Gillis) Byers. She married Ronald L. Golden on July 30, 1971 in Kewanee and he preceded her in death on May 27, 2014. Survivors include her two sons, Shawn (Angela) Golden of Cambridge and Ron (Valarie) Golden of Colona, eight grandchildren, C.J., Natalie, Nikki, Brandon, Morgan, Gabrielle, Courtnie and Makayla and a sister, Ruth VanWynsberg of Kewanee. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a daughter in infancy, a brother, Emmert Byers, a sister, Beverly Jo Byers and a special uncle, Emmert Gillis who helped raise her.

Mildred graduated from Toulon High School in 1965. She had worked for Kewanee Manufacturing, as a deli clerk at Sullivan’s grocery store and at Rombach Meter Company. She was an active member of the Hog Days Festival Committee for many years. She enjoyed camping and fishing and attending the monthly luncheons with her husband’s classmates.
