Mona J. Kubiak

KEWANEE - Mona J. Kubiak, 84, passed away on Monday, August 20th, 2018 in her home surrounded by family and love.

Mona was born on August 3rd, 1934 to Donald and Helen (Sauer) Peck in Kewanee. She graduated from Kewanee High School in 1952, after graduation she worked at Kewanee Machinery and Conveyor. She married Walt Kubiak on October 9th, 1954 and they had three daughters together. Mona enjoyed being a member of the Business and Professional Women's Foundation. She was a secretary for Attorney Don McRae and Associates for many years, retiring in 2000.

She enjoyed working outside in her yard tending to her many flowers and plants, shopping, playing slots, reading and watching Family Feud. She had a special connection with several neighborhood squirrels and hand fed them daily. Mona made it an annual tradition to take her girls and grandchildren on the train to Chicago to shop and see the Christmas decorations. She created a lifetime of memories with her children and grandchildren that will never be forgotten. She was a very kind and selfless person who put others needs ahead of her own. She was concerned about the wellbeing of her family and friends until the very end. She will leave a huge hole in all of our hearts.

Survivors include two daughters; Lynne (Bill Reed) DeBlieck and Teri (Joe) Warner, six grandchildren; Mark (Tara) DeBlieck, Brean Holtschult (Jeremiah Bruegman), Mallery DeBlieck and Jersi, Jerni and Jexsi Warner, six great grandchildren; Coleman, Harper, Collins, Kendyl, Kenzie and Linkin, a brother; Darrel Peck, a sister; Judy (Don) Bridgewater and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; Walt and their daughter; Sue.

Cremation has been accorded. Mona had requested there be no visitation or formal services. Private inurnment for both Mona and Walt will be held Friday, August 24th at Pleasant View Cemetery in Kewanee. The Very Reverend Jerry Rafalko will officiate. A gathering for family and friends will be held Saturday, August 25th from 2:00-6:00 p.m. at Mona's home, 330 Ridyard Ave. Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee is in charge of arrangements.
