Raymond Martzluf Obituary

WILLIAMSFIELD – Raymond W. Martzluf, 101, a resident of Courtyard Estates in Knoxville, formerly of Williamsfield, passed away at 12:40 p.m., Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at the estates.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, October 6 at the Williamsfield United Methodist Church, 430 N. Chicago St., Williamsfield, IL 61489. Pastor Jennifer Seder will officiate. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the services at the church. Burial will be in Williamsfield Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Williamsfield United Methodist Church or to Hospice Compassus, 755 N. Henderson St., Galesburg, IL 61401. Rux Funeral Home in Williamsfield is in charge of arrangements.

He was born February 13, 1917 in Stark County, IL, the son of Fred A. and Amanda (Barrett) Martzluf. He married Dorothy Marie Nelson on September 1, 1938 in Peoria and she preceded him in death on April 11, 2017. Survivors include three children; Shirley M. (Dwight) Burrill of Bonita Springs, FL, Joyce E. (Jim) Graves of Dahinda, IL and Douglas R. (Laura) Martzluf of Chambersburg, PA, eight grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Harriet Hayden.

Raymond farmed in Knox County for many years, retiring in 1981. He also operated Texaco Service Station and Auto Repair in Peoria and had been a partner in the former MFG Ford Dealership in Williamsfield. He was a member of the Williamsfield United Methodist Church where he had been Chairman of the Administrative Board, Treasurer of the Board, Trustee and on the Memorial Committee. He was also a charter member of the former Williamsfield Lions Club and had served as a director of the former Williamsfield Farmers Elevator and director of the Happy Hollow Lake Association. He was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bradley Braves fan and had been active in softball and baseball in the Peoria and Williamsfield area.
