Robert L. Grant

TOULON – Robert L. Grant, 73, of Toulon, died at 6:13 p.m., Thursday, May 17, 2018 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 26 at the Elmira United Presbyterian Church in Elmira. Rev. Gordon Page will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the church. Memorials may be directed to the Elmira United Presbyterian Church. Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee is in charge of arrangements.

He was born May 25, 1944 in Kewanee, the son of Samuel and Grace (Youngfelt) Grant. He married Sheila M. Samara on June 19, 1965 in Kewanee and she preceded him in death on April 1, 2014. Survivors include his son, Robert (Nandini) Grant of Arlington, TX, a brother, David (Linda) Grant of Elmira, two sisters, Kathleen Perkins of LaFayette and Margaret “Peg” Bayer of Roanoke, IL, three grandchildren, Ravi, Karishma and Priya and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his, parents and a sister, Leona Smith.

Robert attended Elmira Grade School and graduated from Toulon High School in 1962. He started working as a draftsman for GTE in 1963 and later became a field engineer retiring after 34 years of service. He was a member of the Elmira United Presbyterian Church and Robert was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinal fan and was an avid fisherman and hunter who enjoyed reading, gardening and cooking.
