KEWANEE – Robert E. “Bob” VanWynsberge, 90, of Kewanee, died at 9:25 p.m., Thursday, October 17, 2019 at the Kewanee Care Home.
Cremation will be accorded and memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, October 20 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee where military rites will be accorded by the Kewanee Veterans Council. Pastor Andrew Christman will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services. Memorials may be directed to the Henry County Humane Society or to the Children’s Hospital of Illinois.
He was born October 22, 1928 in Kewanee, the son of Casimier and Lillian (Orr) VanWynsberg. He married Victoria Grudzinski and then later married Joan and she preceded him in death. Survivors include his two daughters, Dawn (Kevin) Charlet and Pam (Keith) Lindstrom, both of Kewanee, six grandchildren; Lisa, Jenny, Austin, Hilary, Jeremy and Amber, seven great grandchildren; Alex, Izzy, Addy, Olivia, Savannah, Landon and Carter, two step-grandchildren, Brittney and Kylie and his best friend, Charles Harmes. He was also preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Virgil and three dogs, Katie, Ollie and Taffy.
Bob graduated from Kewanee High School in 1946. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. In his earlier years he was a postal carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Kewanee, had worked at Kewanee Boiler Mfg., Walworth Foundry, Sherwin Williams Paint Store, B&B Printing and had worked as a delivery driver for Fairway Delivery in Texas. He enjoyed listening to country music, watching John Wayne movies and riding motorcycles, particularly back and forth from Texas to Kewanee. Bob loved his family and friends and especially his grandchildren.
