WILLIAMSFIELD – Russell D. “Dean” Green, 85, of Williamsfield, died at 1:11 a.m., Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 18 at the Williamsfield United Methodist Church. Rev. Jennifer Seder will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Williamsfield United Methodist Church. Rux Funeral Home in Williamsfield is in charge of arrangements.
He was born March 7, 1933 in Laura, IL, the son of Luther and Margaret (Merritt) Green. He married Karen Kaye Lomax on September 1, 1954 in Lewistown, IL. Survivors include his wife of Williamsfield, four daughters; Melody (Jeff) Matthews of Garland, TX, Deana (Rob) Bush of Rio, Robin Eastburg of Galesburg and Sherry (Jim) Hanna of Rio, two sisters, Sheryl Swanson of Peoria and Vada Kavachvich of Canton, five grandchildren; Joshua (Kasey) Kramer, Kyle (Sarah) Elkins, Sarah Hanna, Leah Hanna and Robby Dean Bush, six great grandchildren with one on the way and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Bernard and Gordon.
Dean worked as a coalminer for Pioneer Mine in Laura and for MECO and also drove a truck for FS and Lozier Oil Company. He attended the Williamsfield United Methodist Church. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed getting together with his coalminer friends and he especially enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren.
