Sally A. Abbott

GALVA - Sally Ann Abbott, 73, of Galva, went home to her Lord at 5:23 a.m., Friday November 3, 2017 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday November 7 at Rux Funeral Home in Galva. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Monday November 6 at the funeral home. Cremation will be accorded. Memorials may be directed to the Wounded Warriors Project.

She was born on August 4, 1944 in Kewanee, the daughter of Daniel and Zereta (Neuleib) Millslagle. She married Albert Homer in 1962 with whom she had three children, Lisa (Mark) Friedrich of Washington, IL, Alan (Carey) Homer of Sturgeon Lake, MN and Shelley (Bruce) Kinzer of Altona, IL. She later married Wayne Abbott in 1974 with whom she had two children, Theresa (Clayton) Dickerson of Victoria, IL and Ryan Abbott of Galva. She is survived by her husband, Wayne of Galva, her children, a step-daughter, Dawn Petersen, a step- son, Robert Abbott, seventeen grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She is also survived by her mother, Zereta Hamilton, a sister, Joni Johnson and a brother, Tom Millslagle. She was preceded in death by her father, a brother, Danny Millslagle, a sister, Patricia Brown and a step-daughter, Kim Thomson.

Sally’s greatest source of happiness was her children and grandchildren. She will be remembered for her generous heart, her love of cooking and her hours of volunteering at the Hagburg-Hamlin American Legion Women’s Auxiliary. She was always ready to send her love to those ill through her homemade meals and her trays of homemade treats during the holidays.
