Sandra M. "Sandy" Spets

PORT CHARLOTTE, FL – Sandra M. “Sandy” Spets, 77, of Port Charlotte, FL, formerly of Kewanee, IL, died Sunday, May 26, 2019.

Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Friday, May 31st at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee, IL. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 1st at the funeral home with Pastor Kevin Drane officiating. Burial will be in Bishop Hill Cemetery in Bishop Hill, IL. Memorials may be directed to Tidwell Hospice in Port Charlotte, FL or to Feldick Ministries in Kinta, OK and will be accepted at Rux Funeral Home, 507 S. Chestnut St., Kewanee, IL 61443.

Sandy was born September 3, 1941 in Kewanee, IL, the daughter of Harold and Minnie (Rohrig) Homer. She married Donald Spets on June 30, 1963 and they have been married for nearly 56 years. Survivors include her husband, her children; Timothy (Katherine) Spets of Algonquin, IL and Thomas Spets of Orlando, FL, her grandchildren; Austin (Katie) Spets, Dylan Spets and Cassandra Spets, her brother; Albert (Linda) Homer of Kewanee, IL, nieces and nephews; Vicki (Homer) Rosenfelder, Chris (Homer) Jones, Jodi Homer, Leigh Ann (Homer) Meyers, Steven Homer, Jeri (Tim) Homer-Hallinan, Lisa (Mark) Friedrich, Alan (Carey) Homer, Shelly (Bruce) Kinzer, Jennifer (Gene) Peed, Julie (Steve) Shirley, David Spets, Doug Spets, Michael (Rhonda) Rinella, Steve (Sally) Rinella, Jane Millman, Susan (Greg) Christakos, James (Sue) Spets, Joseph (Antonette) Spets and Ann Marie (Todd) Hayes. She was preceded in death by her parents Harold and Minnie Homer, her brothers and their spouses Roger Homer, LeRoy (Gloria) Homer and George (Marge) Homer, and her nephew Bradley Homer.

Sandy graduated from Wethersfield High School and Black Hawk East in Kewanee. She lived in Kewanee until 1985 and in Port Charlotte, FL since.  She enjoyed her career as a Special Education teacher, golfing with friends and family, and loved animals.  She was a great wife and mother and was loved by everyone that knew her.
