KEWANEE – Stephen M. Padilla, 68, of Kewanee, formerly of Houston, TX, died at 10:30 p.m., Wednesday, February 28, 2018 in Kewanee.
Per his wishes, cremation will be accorded and a memorial mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 9 at Visitation Church, St. John Paul II Parish. Celebrant will be Fr. Johndamaseni Zilimu. Inurnment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Visitation School or to Visitation Church, St. John Paul II Parish. Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee is in charge of arrangements.
He was born August 28, 1949 in Kewanee, the son of Alfonso “Al” M. and Martha T. (Martinez) Padilla. Survivors include his father of Kewanee, a brother, Henry “Hank” (Naomi “Meme”) Puente of Houston, TX, his sister, Rebecca (Michael) Prince of Wasilla, AK and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother and sister, Elena Padilla.
Stephen graduated from Kewanee High School in 1968. He then went to Illinois State College and studied art. He was an accomplished and talented artist and had worked in Houston, TX as a carpenter. He retired several years ago and moved to Kewanee to help care for his father. He was a member of Visitation Church, St. John Paul II Parish. He was an avid Chicago Cub and Bear fan. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
