ALTONA – Susan E. Binno-Marlow, 79, of Altona, died at 12:45 a.m., Sunday, November 3 at Heartland Health Care Center in Galesburg.
In honoring her wishes there will be no visitation. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, November 7 at Altona Cemetery with Chaplain Jordan Knight officiating. Memorials may be directed to the United Church of Altona or to a charity of the donor’s choice. Rux Funeral Home in Galva is in charge of arrangements.
She was born May 5, 1940 in Kewanee, the daughter Howard and Vera (McGaan) Nelson. She married Donald E. Binno on May 17, 1959 in Altona and he preceded her in death on February 15, 1983. She later married William H. Marlow on December 29, 1989 in Las Vegas, NV and he preceded her in death on June 29, 2017. Survivors include her two daughters, Laurie (Tim) Shelley of Terre Haute, IN and Lisa (Joe) Presley of Fishers, IN, a sister-in-law, Sue Nelson of Galesburg, three grandchildren, two great grandchildren and three nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Jerry Nelson.
Susan graduated from ROVA High School. She served as village treasurer and water billing clerk for Altona for several years and was employed by the State of Illinois as a caseworker for the Department of Human Services for many years, retiring in 1999. Following retirement, she spent her winters in Mission, TX. She was a lifetime member of the United Church of Altona.
