Thomas R. "Tom" Witte

KEWANEE – Thomas R. “Tom” Witte, 81, of Kewanee, died at 5:40 p.m., Sunday, May 6, 2018 at the Toulon Health Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, May 10 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Rev. Paul Copeland will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the First United Methodist Church in Kewanee.

He was born January 23, 1937 in Kewanee, the son of Herman and Julia Ann (Sakolosky) Witte and he had been raised by his grandmother. He married LaVonne C. Witte on June 29, 1957 and she preceded him in death on December 5, 2016. Survivors include two sons, Rick (Teresa) Witte of Houston, TX and Randall (Lisa) Witte of Kewanee and six grandchildren; Josh, Zach, Madison, Jacob, Evan and Kaitlyn. He was also preceded in death by his parents.

Tom served his country in the Army Reserves. He had worked quality control for Kewanee Boiler and also for Hyster’s and other manufacturer’s He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He was an avid NASCAR fan who enjoyed archery and bow target shooting and also enjoyed listening to country music and playing disc golf. He especially enjoyed following the activities of his children and grandchildren.
