William T. Eilts Sr.

KEWANEE – William T. Eilts Sr., 65, of Kewanee, passed away at 9:57 a.m., Sunday, April 16, 2017 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Cremation has been accorded and no services are planned at this time. Memorials may be directed to Illinois Cancer Care, 8940 N. Wood Sage Rd., Peoria, IL 61615. Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee is in charge of arrangements.

He was born February 7, 1952 in Quincy, IL, the son of George and Sally (Shaffer) Eilts Sr. He married Carolyn Matuszyk on September 14, 1984 in Toulon. Survivors include his wife, Carol, his mother, Sally, two sons, Robert (Tiffany) Eilts and William Eilts Jr., a brother, George Eilts, two sisters, Jacqueline Hester and Georgia Ann, eleven grandchildren, Cassandra, Heather, Destiny, Samantha, Gracey, Terry, Roman, Aaron, Dakota, Cheyenne and Niquél, three great grandchildren with one on the way, Bryson, Hailiee and Raynie and special family friend, Jennifer Weeden. He was preceded in death by his father, a daughter, Trish and a brother, Ronnie.

William worked as a welder at John Deere until his retirement. He was of the Catholic faith and was a member of Visitation Church, St. John Paul II Parish in Kewanee. He was an avid Green Bay Packer fan and enjoyed hunting with a bow and shotgun, fishing, gardening, grilling and traveling to see his children.
