GALVA – William L. “Bill” Anderson, 70, of Galva, died at 9:26 a.m., Monday, April 30, 2018 at his home.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 4 at Rux Funeral Home in Galva. Rev. Martin Gutzmer will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Thursday, May 3 at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Bishop Hill Cemetery where military rites will be accorded by the Galva Fusiliers. Memorials may be directed to the Galva American Legion.
He was born October 14, 1947 in Kewanee, the son of Harold and Bertha (Ericson) Anderson. He is survived by a son, Derek Anderson of Albuquerque, NM, a daughter, Brittany Anderson of Phoenix, AZ, a grandson, Derek Anderson Jr., two sisters, Donna (Larry) Lindberg of Britton, SD and Marilyn (Wilbur) Nelson of Cambridge and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Delores Todorovich and a daughter, Tricia Lynn Anderson.
Bill graduated from Galva High School in 1965. He served his country in the Army during the Vietnam War. He had worked as a pressman and machine operator for Maytag in Galesburg. He was known as “Maytag Bill” for his promptness of work attendance. He was of the Methodist faith and he belonged to the Galva American Legion and the Ham Radio Operators Club. He was also a gun enthusiast and a Die-Hard Chicago Cub Fan.
