Annette K. Townsend

LA FAYETTE – Annette K. Townsend, 82, of La Fayette, died at 3:15 p.m., Monday, October 6 at her home surrounded by family.

She was born on April 30, 1943 in Mineral, the daughter of Ferdinand Alexander and Frieda Mae (Bickers) Bennett. She married Mark Copeland on December 11, 1965 and he preceded her in death on July 14, 1986. She later married Larry Townsend and they spent 35 years together until his passing on April 21, 2022. Survivors include her children; Henry Copeland of Brimfield, Connie (John) Stiles and Julie (Tony) Roper, both of Galva, Kerry (Sue) Copeland of Kewanee and Terry (Sheila) Copeland of La Fayette, twelve grandchildren and twenty-two great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Donald and Ronald Bennett.

Annette was employed by the Star Courier in Kewanee for over 30 years, serving the Galva and La Fayette areas. She enjoyed knitting, camping, going for rides in her convertible and playing cards with her family. She especially loved her family and cherished the time spent with them.

A public visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Thursday, October 9 at Rux Funeral Home in Galva. Cremation will follow the visitation and private inurnment will be held at La Fayette Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family for a memorial to be established.
