Arthur A. “Art” Jacobson, 79, of Kewanee, died at 10:39 a.m., Tuesday, May 12, 2026 at his home.
He was born on February 3, 1947 in Kewanee, the son of Hayden Rowe and Rose (Lussenhop) Jacobson and was adopted by Ernest Jacobson at the age of 4. He married Donna Williams on May 14, 2020. Survivors include his wife of Kewanee, his siblings; Ernie (Sharon) Jacobson, Ricky Jacobson, and Kathleen (Leigh) Gillespie, a sister-in-law, Linda Jacobson and several grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Michael and David and a son, James.
Art served his country in the U.S. Marines, obtaining the rank of Gunnery Sergeant. His military career began with two tours of duty in Vietnam and ended with his deployment to Saudi Arabia as part of Operation Desert Shield. Art was among the first American service people to go to the Middle East.
He spent decades in California and will be deeply missed by the friends he made while living there.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 19 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee where military rites will be accorded by the Kewanee Veterans Council. Pastor Andrew Christman will officiate. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Cremation will be accorded following the services and graveside inurnment will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 22 at Pleasant View Cemetery in Kewanee. Memorials may be directed to the Kewanee Animal Shelter.
