Barbara L. Leckey

KEWANEE – Barbara L. Leckey, 70, of Kewanee, died at 6:37 a.m., Monday, August 30, 2021 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.

Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Thursday, September 2 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, September 3 at the funeral home with Pastor Jon Vincent officiating. Inurnment will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family for a memorial to be established. The funeral home will maintain compliance with COVID regulations and requires that all guests wear a mask for the safety of all those attending.

She was born March 29, 1951 in Kewanee, the daughter of John and Genevieve (Bennett) Costenson. She married Michael L. “Mike” Leckey on July 27, 1969 in Kewanee and he preceded her in death on September 21, 2020. Survivors include her two daughters, Heather (Andrew) Hughes of Kewanee and Elizabeth (Jesse) Lucas of Spring Valley and six grandchildren; Avalyn and Cullen Hughes, Finnegan Conlin and Ani, Mary, and Jesse Lucas. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Stephanie and two brothers, David and Garry Costenson.

Barbara graduated from Kewanee High School in 1969 and went on to receive her cosmetology license. She worked as an optician at various eye clinics in the area. She loved her grandchildren and especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
