Barbara "Barb" Talbot

KEWANEE – Barbara L. “Barb” Talbot, 70, of Kewanee, died at 3:47 a.m., Saturday, October 5, 2024 at the Hillcrest Home in rural Geneseo.

She was born March 30, 1954 in Kewanee, the daughter of George and Louise (Oller) Talbot. She is survived by her nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, George Talbot and Leon and Everett Lindsey and her sister, Myrtle Stach.

Barb was the receptionist at Abilities Plus for over 40 years until her retirement. She was usually the first-person visitors or callers at the agency had contact with, and was the organization’s historian, with a wonderful memory for all those she had met through the years. In the past Barb had also been a Special Olympic volunteer, had coordinated the agency’s fall bowling league and served on the Morale Committee. Barb enjoyed cooking and gardening and loved to visit with family and her many friends.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 19 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. The visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. A private inurnment will be held at Talbot Cemetery in rural Cambridge at a later date. Memorials may be directed to Abilities Plus.
