Mr. Benigno Torres Tapia, born on February 13, 1973 and passed away on June 28, 2026 peacefully at his residence. His wife (Cecilia Coronel) of 35 years survives, along with his daughters, Jessica Ayala and Guadalupe (Lupita) Torres, his son, Alex Torres, grandson, Jesiah Ayala and son-in-law, Audelio Ayala. Mr. Benigno Torres-Tapia was a loving husband, father, son, grandfather, brother and uncle who enjoyed spending time with his family. His favorite hobby was teaching and playing baseball with his grandson, Jesiah. Among many of his pastimes his most enjoyable one was going dancing with his wife, children and family members. He was by far the life of the party (You Couldn’t Ignore His Presence When He Walked into a Room). He will forever be remembered as a kind, joyful, loving, respectful, peaceful, beloved soul.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 2 at Saint John Paul II Parish in Kewanee. Celebrant will be Fr. Narcis Katambe. A visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 1 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee with recitation of the rosary at 4:30 p.m. The burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to his family.
El Sr. Benigno Torres Tapia, nacido el 13 de febrero de 1973, falleció pacíficamente en su domicilio el 28 de junio de 2026. Le sobreviven su esposa durante 35 años, Cecilia Coronel; sus hijas, Jessica Ayala y Guadalupe (Lupita) Torres; su hijo, Alex Torres; su nieto, Jesiah Ayala; y su yerno, Audelio Ayala. El Sr. Benigno Torres Tapia fue un esposo, padre, hijo, abuelo, hermano y tío cariñoso que disfrutaba pasar tiempo con su familia. Su pasatiempo favorito era enseñar a jugar béisbol a su nieto Jesiah y practicar este deporte con él. Entre sus muchas aficiones, la que más disfrutaba era salir a bailar con su esposa, sus hijos y demás familiares. Sin duda, él era el alma de la fiesta (su presencia se hacía notar en cuanto entraba a una habitación). Será recordado siempre como un alma bondadosa, alegre, cariñosa, respetuosa, pacífica y muy querida.
La misa de funeral se celebrará el jueves 2 de julio a las 11:00 a.m. en la parroquia de San Juan Pablo II en Kewanee, oficiada por el padre Narcis Katambe. El velatorio tendrá lugar el miércoles 1 de julio, de 5:00 p.m. a 7:00 p.m., en la funeraria Rux de Kewanee, con el rezo del rosario a las 4:30 p.m. El sepelio se llevará a cabo en el cementerio Mt. Olivet. Las donaciones en su memoria pueden dirigirse a la familia.
