GALVA – Bernard F. “Bernie” Lipke, 78, of Galva, died at 8:08 p.m., Wednesday, October 30, 2024 in the emergency room at OSF St. Mary Medical Center.
He was born March 18, 1946 in Moline, the son of Bernard F. and Marcellene M. (Kuster) Lipke. He married Linda K. Stottler on March 2, 1979 in Bishop Hill. Survivors include his wife and his son, Jesse, both of Galva. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Bernie graduated from Galva High School in 1964. He served his country in the U.S. Army serving during the Vietnam War. He was a farmer and had also worked as a rural mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for 10 years. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW and the Vietnam Veterans of Illinois.
A private visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, November 8 at Rux Funeral Home in Galva followed by military rites accorded by the Galva Fusiliers. A Celebration of Life for the public will be held from 2:00-4:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 12 at Mary’s Family Dining in Galva. The family asks that you come in casual dress. Private inurnment will be held at Galva Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be made in his name for a memorial to be established.
