Beverly J. Labedis

KEWANEE – Beverly J. Labedis, 84, of Kewanee, died at 4:23 p.m., Thursday, May 4, 2023 at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 9 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee with Martin VanMeltebeck officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Visitation School for a specific wish list.

She was born August 2, 1938 in rural Bradford, the daughter of Glenn and Laurine (Brazee) Manning. She married Bernard E. “Bernie” Labedis on June 24, 1961 in Kewanee and he preceded her in death on March 27, 2002. Survivors include her four children; Mary (Jeff) Parish of Columbus, WI, Brian Labedis of Bradford and Patricia Labedis and Kelly (James) VanWinkle, both of Kewanee, her in-laws; Joe (Ede) Labedis, Dolores (Gerald) Zellhuber and Ron Fulton, eight grandchildren; Chelsea (Bethy), Samantha (Demond Hill), Bryce, Ryan (Lacy), Austin, Taylor, Bailey and Summer and seven great grandchildren; Kaitlynn, Brooklynn, Avianna, Remi, Beau, Ellie and Elliot. She was also preceded in death by her parents and siblings; Evelyn Foockle, Aileen (Harold) Stotler, Duane Manning and Audrey (Robert) Hart and a brother in infancy.

Beverly graduated from Bradford High School and had worked at Peoples National Bank in Kewanee for 30+ years. She was a member of Saint John Paul II Parish. She enjoyed reading, playing the local casinos and following the sporting events and activities of her children and grandchildren.  She was an accomplished sewer and in her earlier years had sewn uniforms for the Sandy’s Corporation.
