Brittyn Dechant

KEWANEE - Brittyn Dechant, 10-year-old daughter of Tommy Dechant and Lena Goad, died at 10:46 p.m., Friday July 24, 2026 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MO from injuries she sustained an automobile accident that had occurred earlier in the day.

She was born on June 27, 2016 in Waterloo, IA, the daughter of Tommy Dechant and Lena Goad. She is survived by her mother, Lena Goad (Rolando Interial) of Kewanee, her father, Tommy (Nicole) Dechant of Geneseo, her siblings, Haela Goad, Kamdyn Dechant, Maddox Dechant, Rolando Interial, Eliana Interial, Calvin Murzyn, Mia Murzyn and Brayden Hermanson, her grandparents, Amy (Russell) Bailey, Donald (Dodie Wendt) Dechant and Karla Massina and several aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by a brother infancy, Kingstyn.

Brittyn was looking forward to starting the 5th grade at Neponset Grade School. She enjoyed making ASMR videos, knitting, doing crafts, Lilo and Stitch, dancing and Harry Potter books and movies.

A memorial service and wizard send-off will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 6 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee with Pastor Andrew Christman officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Henry County Humane Society-Kewanee Chapter.
