Carmen Gamez Obituary

KEWANEE – Carmen Valdez Gamez, 66, of Kewanee, passed away at 4:59 PM., Tuesday, December 14, 2021, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. She was born January 10, 1955, in Villa. Jesus Teran, Aguascalientes, Mexico. The daughter of Marcelo Valdez Rodriguez and Estefana Llamas Pedroza. She married J. Cruz Gamez Lopez on August 22, 1971.

She is survived by her nine children: J. Cruz, Mariana, Maria, Martha, Jose, Fernando, Gerardo, Marizela and Carmen Gamez; her seven siblings; sixteen grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, a sister, and an infant son Jesus Gamez.

Carmen loved cooking for all her children, planting in her garden, taking walks at parks, and listening to music. Carmen especially loved spending time with her family. She loved being a mother and grandmother.

A Mass of Catholic burial will be held at 9:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at The Cathedral of Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception in Peoria, IL. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Kewanee. Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee will oversee the arrangements.
