KEWANEE - Carol Ann Ouart, 92, of Kewanee, died peacefully at 3:10 a.m., Monday, July 8, 2024, at the Kewanee Care Home with her family at her side.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 17 at the First United Methodist Church in Kewanee with Rev. Haley Hausman officiating. A visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Tuesday July 16 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. The burial will be at Pleasant View Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the First United Methodist Church or the Kewanee Schools Foundation.
She was born on February 7, 1932, in Annawan, the daughter of Henry and Esther (Browning) Nowers. She married L. Dean Ouart on May 6, 1951, in Annawan and he preceded her in death on March 13, 2010. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Nancy Ouart, a grandson, Marcus Siemers, a son-in-law, Bob Siemers and sister, Ann Seifert. She is survived by a son, Mark (Diane) Ouart and two daughters, Sharon Siemers and Mary (Pat) Simaytis, all of Kewanee, six grandchildren, Zak (Holly) Ouart, Ben Ouart, Leslie (Sean) Ryan, Abigail Simaytis ( Phil Johnson), Trevor Simaytis and Samantha Siemers (and her fiancé Cole Colburn), six great-grandchildren; Henry and Ivy Ouart, Lincoln and Penny Ouart and Molly and Fiona Ryan, two brothers, Henry Nowers of Florida and Arden (Gene Drager) Nowers of Arizona, two sisters, Karen (Francis) Sierens of Mineral and Susan Arkell of New Mexico and several nieces and nephews.
Carol had graduated from Annawan High School as Salutatorian in 1950. Carol worked at Johnson’s Hub and Pantree Clothing Stores, then worked as a secretary for Bob Hepner at the Kewanee Township office for 20 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and was involved in various circles at the church. She was also a Sunday School teacher and a Good Samaritan at the church. She was an avid bridge player and a member of several bridge clubs. She was also an avid bowler and was inducted into the Kewanee Women’s Bowling Hall of Fame. She enjoyed having breakfast with friends and dearly loved her family.
