ELKHART, IN – Charles Timothy Bennett, 77, of Elkhart, IN, formerly of Kewanee, died Saturday, January 18, 2020 in Indiana.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 25 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, January 24 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in rural Kewanee where military rites will be accorded by the Kewanee Veterans Council. Memorials may be directed to Abilities Plus or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
He was born January 1, 1943 in Henry County, IL, the son of Clayton and Marjorie (Ripka) Bennett. Survivors include his three sons; Timothy Bennett of Indiana, Matthew Bennett of Michigan and Scott Bennett of Indiana, his siblings; Shirley (John) Maurer of Champaign, IL, Sherman (Karen) Bennett and Richard (Peggy) Bennett, both of Kewanee and Donna Ericson of Galva, eight grandchildren, an aunt and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, several aunts and uncles and his sister, Sharon Bennett.
Charles graduated from Wethersfield High School and served his country in the Army National Guard for 6 years achieving the rank of Spec 5. He was a retired heavy construction worker. He had a love for farming and showing dairy cattle.
