LA FAYETTE - Charles LeRoy Haradon was born on June 9, 1936 to Leo and Susan (Todd) Haradon in La Fayette, Illinois. He passed away on the morning of May 2, 2022.
LeRoy graduated from La Fayette High School in 1954 after spending his last year of High School living with Russel John and Lois Collinson from Victoria Illinois, two very special people to him, which allowed him to work and stay on the farm that he loved.
LeRoy married, Joyce Ann Chapman "the girl next door", September of 1959. They were married till her passing in 1980. He married MaryAnn (Rollins) August 1981 and spent 41 years together on their farm south of La Fayette.
LeRoy loved working and it showed by farming for 55+ years, especially loved raising his herd of black Angus cattle, and retiring from 33+ years of working as a heavy equipment operator for the United Mine workers of America. He worked for several coal mines in the area.
He shared his farm by hosting catfish fry’s and sharing them with his family and neighbors. He also tried his hand at the sport of harness racing, despite the long travels to Chicago and back, he enjoyed this with his friends and wife Mary Ann.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Haradon. Son: Dennis Haradon - IL, Daughter: Rene'e (Dean) Bauknecht - WI, Step-children: Mark, Brian Rollins and Paula Boston-IL, Grand Children: Jessie Haradon- IN, Colton (Caitlin) Opinker -NC, Hunter Opinker-WI and Sumer Opinker-TX, Step-grandchildren: Nathan Carlson, Tessa (Paul) Thompson, Chase Rollins, Brother: Roger Haradon-FL, Half Sisters: Patricia Galli-IL, Nira(John) Beard -IL and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death: his parents, foster parents, first wife, and half-brother, David Haradon-IL.
He will be truly missed by many friends and his family.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 6 at Rux Funeral Home in Galva with Rev. Martin Gutzmer officiating. There will be no visitation. Burial will follow at Galva Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to a charity of the donor’s choice.
