KEWANEE – Charlotte Joan Currier, 86, of Kewanee, died at 1:55 p.m., Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at the Kewanee Care Home.
She was born March 18, 1937 in Kewanee, the daughter of Allie and Muriel “Gwyneth” (Leach) Webber. She married Grady L. Currier on April 10, 1955 in Kewanee and preceded her in death on March 4, 2007. Survivors include her two daughters, Tamara Currier (Tom Risse) and Lisa Modro, both of Kewanee, a daughter-in-law, Sherry Currier of Kewanee, four grandchildren; Eric Currier (Miles) of Madison, WI, Justin (Jennifer) Modro of Kewanee, Jason (Kimberly) Currier of Kewanee and Nichelle (Jamie) Hess of Toulon, eleven great grandchildren; Aidan and Rory Currier, Dani Jo, Grady, Remi and Garette Currier, Owen, Ethan and Evelyn Hess and Jaxson and Jameson Modro and one on the way and her sisters-in-law; Sharon Stage, Beverly Currier, Chris Peed and Marvella Husar. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a son, Darryl Currier, granddaughter, Allison Jo Currier and son-in-law, Daniel Modro.
Joan graduated from Kewanee High School in 1954. She worked as a receptionist for Dr. Richard Jakobi for 22 years and Dr. Carla Greby for 9 years. She was a member of Community of Christ in Galesburg. She was an active participant at the Henry County Senior Citizens Center and enjoyed cooking for church camps and reunions in Nauvoo. She also enjoyed reading, but most of all she adored her family and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 4 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee with Elder Patrick Fairbrother officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Following the burial, a further time of fellowship and refreshment will be held at Calvary Baptist Church in Kewanee. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Henry County Senior Citizens Center.
